Road Trip Day 3- Christmas Valley

On day 3, we rose early in the morning and walked around a bit before we got to a restaurant where we had breakfast.

The scene outside of our motel....................

There were only three "cowboys" in the restaurant before we set foot into it.

Energized, we headed up to Sand Dunes and then Crack in the Ground. The road along the way was mostly bumpy and scattered with pebbles and small rocks. After half-an-hour drive, we came to Sand Dune, but our hope of dune-riding was sorta dashed by the rental rates and also the crooked and muddy way to the rental area.

The road was winding, bumpy and at some places narrow.

Looking with envy at the children riding on all-terrain vehicle (ATV).. the kid on the right of the pic was brave!!
The sheaves of wheat were piled high in the barn

Spray equipment in the farm (just guessing)

Running on the country road

A barn in the middle of the field

 Resting into the tractor wheel...

Onto the next stop....Crack in the Ground!!!!

There were no warning signs or fences nearby, so we gotta be extra careful walking along the crack.

Looking down, the crack was deep and with nothing inside

In the crack..................

I was awed by the rock formation that evidenced years of wind wear, water ersosion, and chemical decomposition.

Also, there was ice found at the bottom of the crack.

Me trying to climb the rock that looked like it could tip over at any time.

The next stop would be Fort Rock, a volcanic landmark.

Looking at our white car from above the rock...it's right there!!!

Then, we were off to Oregon. But, we were forced to take a detour as the road we took was closed because of heavy snow... pic shown below...

Then, as we stopped for respite somewhere unknown, we went into a forest that was like a movie scene..

We arrived late that evening and had some really yummy Italian food at Olive Garden.

Ravioli, Italian filled pasta, was one of the best, if not the best ever, food I'd ever tried.

Day 3 ended with a good meal.........
